The Arab Republic of Egypt welcomed the start of the process of exchanging detainees between the government and the Houthi group, under the auspices of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
In a statement published by the Middle East News Agency (MENA), the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the exchange of detainees represents a positive and important step, which Egypt looks forward to building on to renew the truce in Yemen, and advance the ongoing efforts to reach a political settlement that leads to a comprehensive peace.
The statement affirmed Egypt's full support for any efforts that would restore security and stability in Yemen, preserve its unity and territorial integrity, and alleviate the humanitarian crises suffered by the brotherly Yemeni people.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan also welcomed the start of the process of exchanging detainees between the government of the Republic of Yemen and the Houthis, which was announced yesterday, Friday.
In a statement published by the Jordan News Agency (Petra), the ministry praised the important role played by the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross in sponsoring the exchange of detainees, and the constructive efforts of the delegations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the sisterly Sultanate of Oman, which contributed to reaching this agreement.. expressing its hope that this agreement contributes to strengthening security, stability and peace in brotherly Yemen and the region, a step towards achieving a truce and resolving the crisis in Yemen.
