[21/03/2023 07:47]

ADEN - SABA
Parliament Speaker Sheikh Sultan al-Barakani directed Tuesday a letter to Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik on circulations on international organizations' corruption of food and relief assistances and funds allocated for them.

According to the letter, these organizations do not coordinate with the Central Bank of Yemen in Aden and are linked with Houthi militia, pointing to the huge violations by these organizations.

This letter comes in following up to the previous one No. 180/2021 on 16/12/2021 on continuous corruption in this regard and continuous corruption included in the letter, which included failure of the World Bank and international organizations in using the funds through the Central Bank in Aden despite the huge funds announced about but these funds were deposited in private banks in violation to the applied mechanism and ignoring dealing with the legitimized government.

The letter pointed out to UNICEF's practices regarding emergency cash remittances, which was under its management from Jordan in 2017 and funded by the World Bank and the premises of the project was relocated from Jordan to Sana'a (Social Fund) and appointing a Houthi person a director to the project to be under the militia's control.

Houthi militia played with the funds and instead of giving USD 51 to every family in Dollar, they give it in Riyal with 18000, which is far less than the due amount, added the letter.

The letter pointed out also to mistakes committed by the World Food Program and mistakes committed by other organizations regarding project operating budgets, which reach about 70 percent of the total support.

Parliament Speaker confirmed that this corruption affects deeply Yemeni citizen and the beneficiaries from these programs and serves only interests of Houthi militia, which use these funds to finance their military attacks against Yemeni people.
He directed disclosing corrupt activities by the international organizations to the public opinion and holding their officials accountable.
