PM presides over meeting of ministerial committee in charge of trade regulation

Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik chaired a meeting of the ministerial committee on studying economic developments and developing solutions to secure trade movement in the land and sea ports.

The committee discussed the measures taken to carry out its tasks and the level of implementation of decisions aimed at providing more facilities to importing merchants.

The committee reviewed the plans and procedures that are being prepared related to regulating the movement of trade in the ports in a way that guarantees easy and smooth arrival of goods and reduces the cost of transportation and insurance in the ports of the liberated areas, in a way that contributes to raising the efficiency of the process of transporting and delivering goods and various commodities.

The committee stressed the need to take all procedures and measures that preserve public funds and implement government decisions regulating imports and comply with the government's obligations in combating money laundering and financing terrorism, including UN and international resolutions related to banning the import and sale of Iranian oil, as well as taking the necessary steps to prevent any abuses or violations of laws and mechanisms including communication with countries and export destinations from which goods and commodities are imported in violation of the established procedures.

The committee was briefed by the ministers of Planning and International Cooperation, Waed Bathib, Transportation Abdulsalam Hamid, and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Salem Salman, on reports about the level of implementation of previous decisions, and the mechanisms and procedures required to be taken in light of recent developments.

The Prime Minister urged the committee to keep abreast of the new changes by taking measures that contribute to securing the movement of trade in the land and sea ports, stressing that all necessary facilities will be provided and any obstacles that stand in the way will be removed.
