Finance Minister discusses with US Ambassador supporting reforms and facing challenges of war

Finance Minister Salem bin Breik discussed with the US Ambassador to Yemen, Steven Fagin in Riyadh today aspects of support for continuing financial and economic reform efforts, and facing the challenges posed by the conditions and circumstances of the war in the country.

The meeting reviewed the latest developments at the national level, the regional and international efforts to achieve comprehensive and lasting peace, and aspects of strengthening cooperation and joint coordination in various fields between the two friendly countries.

The meeting also dealt with governmental efforts, with the support of brotherly and friendly countries, to alleviate human and living suffering and the negative economic effects of the war, measures taken to deal with the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi coup militia attacks on vital oil facilities in the country, and efforts to continue building the capacities of the Ministry of Finance and affiliated interests and institutions.

Minister Ben Breik touched on the nature of the economic situation and government measures to deal with all the changes, and the efforts exerted to work to stabilize the economic situation. He praised the efforts of the United States of America, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in supporting Yemen in various fields, especially the economic one.

He pointed to the multiplied humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people and the exacerbation of the catastrophic effects on public finances as a result of the recent military escalation of the Iranian-backed Houthi coup militia on the ports and oil installations in Hadramout and Shabwa, stressing the importance of firm international positions towards these attacks, and providing more technical and material support to face challenges and advance.
