The US Navy announced on Tuesday in a statement that on November 8 it had intercepted a fishing vessel "in international waters" that was carrying a "huge quantity of explosive materials" coming from Iran on a route used by the terrorist Houthi militia to smuggle weapons.
The US Navy indicated that the ship was carrying 70 tons of ammonium chlorate and 100 tons of urea fertilizer, which may be used to make explosives.
The US Fifth Fleet, based in Bahrain, said in a statement that the boat was intercepted on November 8, "while transiting in international waters." According to the navy, "the ship and its crew of four Yemenis were intercepted while transiting from Iran along a route historically used to smuggle weapons to the Houthis in Yemen.
