Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qassem Beheibeh, discussed with the representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Aden today the activities and interventions of the Fund in the health sector, especially in the areas of reproductive health and training of midwives.
Beheibeh stressed the importance of coordination between the Ministry and the Fund in preparing health plans, evaluating their achievements, the obstacles they encountered, and planning for the current year, according to the Ministry’s needs for the quality and locations of interventions.
He pointed out the importance of completing the midwife training project by providing health institutes with training equipment and organizing a workshop to assess the information system and address its shortcomings.
The Minister called for the transfer of support from emergency situations to cases of sustainable development and focus on interventions that are a real need, such as the prevention of cancers related to gynecological diseases and reproductive health.
In addition, the Minister discussed with a team of experts from the World Health Organization ways to evaluate and update the information system in the ministry to enhance the ministry's role in evaluating problems and quickly making decisions regarding them.
