UK Reaffirms Support for Yemen and Saudi Arabia’s Right to Defend Their Security and Sovereignty
[10/09/2026 03:01]
LONDON-SABA

The United Kingdom has strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s resumption of the war in Yemen and its recent attacks on Saudi Arabia, including strikes targeting civilian infrastructure and energy facilities.

In a press statement, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office held the Iran-backed Houthi militia fully responsible for the crisis, warning that the escalation of the war puts Yemenis at greater risk and deepens the humanitarian suffering of those most in need of assistance.

The ministry said Houthi attacks threaten regional stability, freedom of navigation, and vital trade routes through the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab.

It reaffirmed the UK’s clear support for the Republic of Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stating that both countries have the right under international law to defend their security and sovereignty.

The UK said it is working with partners to support regional stability, protect civilians, and facilitate the continued delivery of humanitarian aid, while calling on the Houthis to immediately halt their attacks and de-escalate.
