PM orders urgent measures to improve electricity in Aden

Prime Minister Dr. Ma'een Abdulmalik directed the Ministries of Planning and International Cooperation and Electricity to seek for securing necessary finances to fund the second and third phase of the project intended to put President Hadi Power Plant in operation as soon as possible to improve electricity service in the temporary capital Aden.

The President Power Plant is a very significant project intended to produce 264 MGW.

Dr. Ma'een also urged exploring alternatives to oil fuel and diesel to operate electricity-generate stations, like the investment in gas fired stations.

He gave his instructions as he chaired a meeting today in the temporary capital Aden with the leadership of the High Energy Council (HEC).

The HEC recommended several measures need to be taken urgently in order to help handling the power shortages and improve electricity services in Aden and other government-held governorates.
