FM, US envoy to Yemen, Tim Linderking, discuss developments in the situation and efforts to bring peace
[24/09/2021 02:24]
NEW YORK - SABA
Foreign Minister, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, met today in New York with the US envoy to Yemen, Tim Linderking to discuss developments of the situation and the efforts to bring peace to Yemen.

The meeting dealt with opportunities for reviving the political process to end the war in Yemen in light of the escalation of the Houthi militia in Marib and attempts to advance in the governorate of Shabwa and Abyan, and its continued targeting of infrastructure and civilian objects in Yemen and Saudi Arabia, and the continued use of the Safer tank as a political card to threaten Yemen, the region and the world.

They also discussed possible ways to support the Yemeni economy and restoring the stability of the national currency.

Bin Mubarak stressed that ensuring the restoration of the peace process in Yemen begins with pressure on the Houthi militia to stop its ongoing military aggression and accept a comprehensive ceasefire that paves the way for addressing humanitarian issues and resuming political consultations.

In turn, the US envoy pointed to the importance of continuing efforts to restore the political track and the need for the Houthis to stop all military operations in Marib and other areas, and to refrain from destabilizing actions in Yemen and neighboring countries.

The meeting was attended by Yemen's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi.
