The Permanent Representative of Yemen to the United Nations Abdullah al-Sa'adi has stressed significance of unearthing Houthi militia's hindrance of arrival of humanitarian assistances to needy people by international organizations and UN agencies and the militia's looting of these assistances.
Receiving Resident Representative of the United Nations, the Coordinator of Relief Affairs William David on Thursday, al-Sa'adi said the continuous Houthi militia's attacks on Marib Province expose millions of civilians and displaced people to more humanitarian suffering and force the displaced people another displacement over Houthi shelling on their camps.
He pointed out to catastrophic conditions resulted in continuous siege of Taiz Province for more than six years by Houthi militia.
"The effects of the war is being waged by Houthi rebel militia on Yemeni people, in addition to eruption of coronavirus pandemic, have complicated humanitarian suffering," said al-Sa'adi.
He called upon the international organizations and UN agencies in Yemen to make the Security Council in the picture of these conditions and to exert more pressure on the militia to stop its military escalation and violations and allow arrival of the assistances to the deserved people and support the Yemeni Rial via directing assistances through the Central Bank of Yemen.
For his part, the UN official praised government's cooperation for alleviating difficulties before arrival of humanitarian assistance, pointing out that the UN expanded its humanitarian operations in Marib and the Western Coast.
He confirmed that stopping Houthi attacks is utmost necessity to protect civilians and to enable the UN to help needy people and rescue more solus.
