MARIB - SABA
The Executive Unit for the Management of IDPs Camps has said that five women were injured and several houses and properties belonging to IDPs in Houthi shelling on IDPs camps in Yemen’s eastern province of Marib on Sunday.
In a statement, the Unit said the “terrorist Houthi militia shelled the IDPs camps of Almeel, Alkayr and Tawasol camps with missiles and cannon shells injuring five women, three of them seriously.”
The attack which coincided with the visit of the UN Humanitarian Coordinator to Marib destroyed 27 settlement tents and 18 water tanks.
The Unit appealed to the UN, the OHCHR and the overall international community to intervene to protect the IDPs urgently saying they should shoulder their responsibility and moral obligation to stop the Houthi terror attacks.
The Human Rights Ministry branch office in Marib condemned the attack. The office director Abd-Rabbu Jdei’ deplored the despicable Houthi acts, saying the international community’s silence emboldens the militia to go too far in its atrocities against the civilians and IDPs in Marib and elsewhere.
