MARIB-SABA
Deputy Governor of Marib Abd-Rabbu Miftah along with Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Office for Coordinating Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen William David Greasly inspected Sunday situations of displaced people in camps of Gefaina and Sweida in Marib city and Arrawdah Camp in Sirwah District, western of the city.
Miftah and Greasly heard from the displaced people on their basic needs of relief aid and challenges they face and means of solving them and securing their daily services.
Greasly made it clear that the visit of the UN's delegation to the camps aims at inspecting humanitarian situations of the displaced people, praising efforts of Marib local authority for providing shelters to the displaced people.
He uttered readiness of the UN to help the local authority to boost these efforts and enhancing cooperation and coordination with the leadership of Marib local authority for implementing a number of humanitarian projects in the province.
For his part, Miftah made it clear that the displaced people in these camps and others live in difficult humanitarian situations over weak infrastructure in the province, which is receiving huge numbers of displaced people from different provinces, and due to weak role of the international organizations in the province.
He called upon UN and its organizations to play their humanitarian role and help two million displaced people in the province and called the UN and international community to exert pressure on Houthi militia to stop their terrorist attacks on civilians and displaced people in the province.
He pointed out that the international silence towards Houthi militia's crimes against civilians and displaced people has encouraged the militia to continue their crimes and committing more horrific crimes.
Earlier, the deputy governor and the UN official visited the humanitarian center of the UN in Marib city and listened from concerned officials on preparations for inaugurating the center.
