Yemen calls on UN organizations to name humanitarian work hinderers
[12/07/2020 07:48]

RIYADH- SABA
Yemen has called upon the UN organizations to name and point fingers to the hinderers of humanitarian work who have brought Yemen close to famine.

Chief of the national Supreme Committee for Relief Aid Abduraqeeb Fatah cited the Houthi obstruction of humanitarian aid work oft-acknowledged by the United Nations itself, citing signs of looming famine in the rebel militia-held territories.

"The Houthi militia is the main cause of the deprivation of the Yemeni people from relief aid. The militia's handiwork is no longer a secret to UN organizations that they use broad terms" instead of naming Houthis directly, Fatah said in a press statement.

"The UN reports acknowledge that eighty percent of the humanitarian aid arrive to Yemen through the (Houthi-controlled) Hodeidah port, and acknowledge, at the same time, that signs of famine have begun to appear in Hodeidah" port city.

Fatah said the UN has diagnosed the problem as Houthi diversions and misuse of humanitarian aid but did not go any step further beyond diagnosing problems.
