Yemen, UK discuss humanitarian cooperation

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad al-Hadhrami discussed Tuesday with the Head of Yemen's Team at UK Development Ministry Chris Bold and Charge D'Affairs at UK Embassy in Yemen Simon Smart boosting humanitarian cooperation.

Al-Hadhrami reviewed humanitarian issues in Yemen and Houthi militia's violations, making obstacles before humanitarian work, banning access to aid by deserved people and the militia's plans for imposing taxes on humanitarian projects and assistances, which are blatant violations to all humanitarian activity's principles.

He confirmed keenness of the government on providing all facilitations to humanitarian organizations working in humanitarian field for alleviating aftermaths of the humanitarian catastrophe caused by Houthi militia's war on Yemeni people.
He pointed out to commencing "merciful fights" from Sana'a Airport for patients of chronic diseases to be cured in Amman and Cairo.

The foreign minister talked about significance of supporting the Central Bank of Yemen and boosting its role for enabling it to realize stability in currency prices and limiting inflation to be reflected positively on humanitarian situation across the country, denouncing obstacles made by Houthis helped in deteriorating economic situation through their banning the newly printed banknotes in their held-areas.

He demanded strong action from the international community against Houthi militia for rejecting the UN's team to inspect Safir Oil Tank swimming on Ras Isa Port in Hodeida Province.

For their part, the UK diplomats praised allowing flights for transporting patients from Sana'a to Amman and Cairo for medication, expressing their UK support to the internationally-recognized government and aspirations for cooperation for facilitating difficulties facing humanitarian work.
