RIYADH-SABA
Speaker of Parliament Sultan al-Barakani met on Wednesday here with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom (UK) to the Republic of Yemen Michael Aron.
The session intended to discuss the developments in the Yemeni national scene and regional arena as well.
Al-Barakani stated that Iran-allied Houthi militia has continued to further exacerbate the Yemeni peoples' suffering. He said " Houthi militia's atrocities and oppressive measures have been continuing against the Yemeni people. Most recent and worst of all is that the militiamen have banned dealing with national currency banknotes and withdrawing from the population in the militia-controlled regions".
Riaydh Agreement and underway efforts to put it in place was a key focus of Al-Barakani's conversations with Aron.
The Speaker of Parliament reiterated that the political leadership is a keen seeker for peace that can maintain Yemen's security, stability, unity and republican regime, the peace that should be based on the three terms of reference and the implementation of Riyadh Agreement.
The British diplomat reiterated his country's support for the Yemeni people, official leadership headed by President Hadi and UN-led peace process.
MPs Shawqi Shamsan, Mabkhout bin Madhi and Ensssaf Mayou were in attendance.
