Prime Minister Ma'een Abdulmalik received Saturday here Acting Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Yemen Nestra Omhengy.
In the meeting, which was attended by Minister of Public Health and Population Nasser Ba'om, the two parties discussed cooperation between the government of Yemen and the fund in fields of maternity and childhood, reproductive health, woman's health care and supporting, rehabilitating and operating hospitals and health centers damaged by the Houthi- triggered war in the country.
The meeting touched upon results of the visits made by the fund to a number of coastal areas for inspecting people's health needs in the areas witnessing endemics and diseases, in addition to plans of UNFPA and its future interventions to be implemented across Yemen.
Prime Minister confirmed government's keenness on enhancing cooperation and coordination with the fund and withother international donors for supporting efforts of normalizing health situation.
He expressed government's aspirations for more support for facing problems concerning operational budgets of hospitals and health units.
For his part, the UN official reviewed plans of the fund in Yemen for 2020, confirming UNFPA's intentions to increase its support to health programs, especially in maternity and childhood field.
