A Saudi mine action program says it has removed 1658 landmines in Yemen, planted by the Iran-backed Houthi militia which is fighting the government for five years.
MASAM said it removed those landmines in different parts of Yemen "during the second week of this November."
Over the past two years, MASAM has removed 105 thousand landmines and hundreds of thousands of landmines remain a cause of continuous civilian casualties. Thousands of Yemenis have either been killed or lost limbs as a result.
