WASHINGTON - SABA
Yemen's delegation participating in World Bank and International Monetary Fund's meetings headed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Najeeb al-Awj discussed with Tim Lenderking, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Arabian Gulf Affairs in the Near East Bureau at the U.S. Department of State on Tuesday combating money laundering and terrorism.

The meeting, which included Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen Hafez Miyad and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Finance and Development Roland de Marcellus, discussed also banning Iran-via its ally Houthi militia- to breach economic sanctions imposed on them and that the international organizations operating in Yemen must deal with the Central Bank in Yemen in Aden to help boost the national currency.

The delegation discussed preparations for approving 2019 budget so that the government will be able to honor its commitment and improving citizen's situations across the republic of Yemen with focus on education and health sector.

Thanking US State Department for economic and political support to Yemen, the delegation hoped more support in economic and banking fields as well as training cadre of government's institutions to improve their performance.

For their part, the two US officials praised efforts of the government for normalizing conditions and improving living conditions of the people, expressing congratulations for holding the Parliament's sessions in Sayoon since its stop in 2014.

They confirmed providing necessary support to the government and to Yemeni people for facing challenges and stopping Iran's sabotage interferences in Yemen.
