President Hadi receives UN's envoy to Yemen

President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi has reiterated his support for the UN's efforts aiming to achieve durable peace in Yemen based on the GCC's Initiative, its operational plan, outcomes of the National Dialogue and UNSCRs, mainly resolution no (2216).

His Excellency (HE) statement came as he met on Wednesday with the UN's envoy to Yemen Martin Griffith.

HE stated that legitimate government has earlier responded positively to various peace consultations conducted in Bern and Kuwait. He added that the government has made significant concessions in the hope of making peace and ending the war triggered by Houthis putschist militia against the constitutional legitimacy, undermined the State's institutions in the wake of taking over the capital Sana'a and militarily sweeping other Yemeni provinces." Yet, Iran-backed Houthi militia responded defiantly, rejecting to come to peace, insisted on prolonging the war", said Hadi.

The President has made clear that the putschist militia can't deal constructively with the good offices have been made by the international community in order to make peace; simply because the militia doesn't own its decision, rather it receives instructions from the Iranian regime that supplies it with weapons and missiles to attack the neighboring countries.

HE said " Legitimate government will continue to extend hand for peace and support any good offices may help to this end, as this is its national and moral responsibility toward our country and people". He asserted that war has never been the government's choice, it is rather imposed upon it, to serve Iran's hostile agenda against Yemen and neighboring countries.

For his part, Mr Griffith praised the President's constructive cooperation and legitimate government with the peace efforts.

The UN's envoy made clear that the international community is interested in putting an end of the war, establishing peace and saving the Yemeni more hardships they can no longer afford.

Griffith also affirmed the UN's principled stance in supporting the unity, stability and sovereignty of Yemen.
