Emergencies in health sector discussed

Undersecretary of Public Health and Population for Primary Health Care Dr Ali Al-Waleedi met with the WHO's representative in our country Dr Nifeor Zagria and official in charge of Emergencies file in Yemen, Dr Zwitin.

The meeting which held in Cairo devoted to discuss a number of urgent issues and emergencies facing health sector all over the Yemeni provinces.

The salaries of the foreign doctors who work in a number of Public Hospitals in several provinces were key focus of the discussion.

Dr Al-Waleedi highlighted need for capacity building of medical cadres and technicians. He also cited the approved support for the Nursing College and Health Management College, Master degree at Aden University.

The meeting also touched upon the need for establishing Emergencies Central Operations (ECO) in the interim capital Aden.

A nation-wide anti-Diphtheria and Measles was approved to be carried out in forthcoming period. Malaria control activities were also decided to be carried out in the most affected areas.
