Armed forces advance in east and north of Taiz
[27/01/2018 01:52]

TAIZ-SABA
The armed forces have made significant advances in east and north of Taiz as part of an offensive to break the strangling siege that the Houthis impose on the heavily populated central Yemen city for three years.

A military source told Saba that the army managed to liberate al-Qasr roundabout and advance in Azahra and al-Arabeen areas at the expense of the Iran-backed rebels in the city. "The fierce clashes are still going on as the heroes of the army move along toward al-Hawban," said the source. Al-Hawban is the major bastion of the rebel militants in Taiz.

The rebel militia have been cutting off medical and humanitarian supply to the city and killing civilians by continual rocket shelling and sniper shooting since 2015.
