Nineteen of Houthi-Saleh militias militants were killed in battles fought Saturday in the area of Asselew, south of Taiz governorate, some 300 km away of capital Sana'a.
Commander of 201 Brigade affiliated to Houthi-Saleh militias and 18 of his companions were killed as they attempted to carry out raid against the government's troops positions in Assyar area of Asselew district, according to military sources.
A military source of 35 Armored Brigade told the Yemeni News Agency ( Saba) government armed forces stationed in Assyar countryside fought fierce battles Saturday against Houthi-Saleh militiamen who launched a failed assault on the military positions.
Fighting resulted in killing the so-called Al-Areesh, the commander of 201 Brigade, staff officer and 17 more of his companions.
Eight more militiamen are reported to have been killed in attack carried out Saturday afternoon by the government troops against the militias' fighters were gathering nearby the camp of Central Security eastern Taiz city.
Clashes between the government military and militias in the areas surrounding the Republican Palace in Taiz resulted in killing four militiamen and several more injured, the military sources confirmed.
