NY-SABA
The UN Security Council has urged greater humanitarian access to famine-threatened Yemen, Somalia, South Sudan and northeast Nigeria in a session on international peace and security maintenance.

The UNSC expressed in a presidential statement today its serious concern about the threat of famine to more than 20 million persons in Yemen, Somalia, South Sudan and northeast Nigeria.

The Council expressed its displeasure at the failure of certain parties to guarantee the arrival of vital food aid shipments and other humanitarian aids for the needy.
