Yemen's Red Crescent Branch here organized Sunday a training course to volunteers from health sector to carry out awareness health campaign on cholera epidemic.
Financed by the International Federation for the Red Cross and Red Crescent Organizations, the course aims at educating ten trainees from male and female volunteers, working in health sector, on issues and topics on cholera disease, symptoms, ways of transmission and protection against it, as well as formal and social efforts for fighting it.
In the opening ceremony, Deputy Governor of ShabwahSalem al-Ahmadi and Director of Health and Population OfficeNaser al-Marzaqi talked about the significance of this training activity and its results in the field for conducting needed awareness among the society on cholera epidemic, which has become one of the biggest health problems facing Yemen.
They praised the role of the Red Crescent Society in the governorate and its active contribution in facing the epidemic. They stressed that all should shoulder their responsibility in carrying out awareness campaign on the disease in targeted governorates for achieving demanded ends.
