Minister of State for Women’s Affairs Dr. Ahd Jaasous discussed Tuesday with the U.S. Ambassador to Yemen Steven Fagin ways to strengthen joint cooperation in the fields of women’s economic and political empowerment and to enhance their presence in diplomatic representation.
The Minister reviewed the key challenges—facing women amid the exceptional circumstances the country is going through, stressing the importance of intensifying international and regional support for women’s empowerment programs.
Minister Jaasous also highlighted the government’s efforts to develop policies and programs supporting women, particularly in economic empowerment and increasing women’s representation in leadership and political roles, reflecting their central role in sustainable development.
She emphasized the importance of building effective partnerships with the U.S. side to support development pathways and strengthen women’s role in reconstruction and stability efforts.
For his part, the U.S. Ambassador affirmed his country’s commitment to supporting the role of women in Yemen, especially in peacebuilding and participation in the diplomatic process, as well as backing initiatives that enhance women’s capacities and enable them to actively contribute to political consultations and diplomatic efforts.
