ADEN – SABA
The Republic of Yemen has announced its full support for the statement issued at the extraordinary ministerial meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which affirmed a unified and firm position to deter what it described as blatant Iranian aggression against GCC member states.
In a statement released Monday evening, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed Yemen’s strong condemnation and denunciation of what it called unjustified Iranian attacks targeting civilian facilities, service sites, and residential areas in several GCC countries, as well as in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, using missiles and drones.
The ministry described these attacks as a grave violation of state sovereignty, principles of good neighborliness, international law, and the Charter of the United Nations.
Yemen also reiterated its full solidarity with GCC countries and its support for their legal right to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, as well as their right to take all necessary measures to protect their sovereignty, the security of their citizens and residents, and to neutralize sources of threat.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the UN Security Council and the international community to assume their legal and moral responsibilities by taking an immediate and firm stance to deter such attacks, prevent their recurrence, and hold the responsible party accountable for serious violations that threaten regional and international peace and security, undermine maritime security, and disrupt global food supply chains and energy routes.
The ministry further stated that the new attacks by the Iranian regime reflect what it described as a systematic approach to destabilizing Yemen and the region through prohibited weapons, support for rogue militias, undermining state institutions, and obstructing peace efforts and long-standing initiatives for de-escalation and coexistence.
The Republic of Yemen expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the victims in the affected brotherly countries and its wishes for a swift recovery for the injured.
It affirmed that the security and stability of the Gulf are a natural extension of Yemen’s own security and stability, emphasizing that the current phase requires unity, firmness of position, and responsible international action to put an end to projects of destruction and terrorism.
