His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) underlined the announcement of the establishment of the Multinational Naval Defense Alliance led by Saudi Arabia, describing this move as a strategic initiative and a very important step to boost collective security, protect international navigation and secure vital sea routes in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

President al-Alimi praises United States' support for Yemen

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Wednesday, the Chargé d' Affaires of the United States Embassy in the Republic of Yemen Jonathan Pecha.

Yemeni-American bilateral relations and cooperation was key focus of the conversations.

The discussions also covered the latest developments in the Yemeni national arena, the needed international support for comprehensive reform efforts and the current coordination and partnership in various fields.

President al-Alimi reiterated praise for the supportive stances of the United States in support of the PLC, the government and the aspirations of the Yemeni people to eliminate the coup of the Iranian regime-backed Houthi terrorist militias, restore the State institutions, security, stability and peace.

The Chairman of the PLC underscored the importance of cooperation and partnership with the United States in the fight against terrorism, the active American role in supporting the United Nations inspection mechanism, implementing the ban on Iranian weapons being smuggled to the Houthi militias, drying up their sources of funding and terrorist activities, and deterring their threats to the security and stability of Yemen and the region.

The American diplomat restated that the United State is committed to support the PLC and its unity to continue doing its efforts with the international community to achieve peace in Yemen and ease the humanitarian suffering created by the terrorist Houthi militia.
