The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Muammar al-Eryani said" "Yemen has recovered (16) rare artifacts from the Republic of France, including the famous statue of the King of Qataban (Shahr Hilal) along with statues and funerary paintings that date back to various periods of ancient Yemeni civilizations, from the 2nd century BC to the 4th century AD."
He added in a press statement that this achievement represents the culmination of continuous efforts that have spanned five years, made by the Yemeni embassy in Paris led by Ambassador Dr. Riyahd Yassin and embassy lawyer David Domarche, who played a pivotal role in following up on the case, along with specialists from the Ministry of Culture, the General Authority for Antiquities and Yemeni experts who worked hard to recover these national treasures.
The Minister expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the French government represented by the Central Office for Combating Trafficking in Cultural Properties and Antiquities of the Ministry of Interior and the General Administration of Antiquities and Architecture of the French Ministry of Culture, alongside the prominent archaeologists, the Italian Sabina Antonini and the French Christian Roux for their significant contributions to accomplishing this file.
