The Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Maj. General Aidaroos al-Zubaidi highlighted the importance of joining regional and international efforts to support the underway reforms by the PLC and the government to achieve economic recovery, boos stability and improve livelihoods in Yemen.
He voiced his statement during a discussions he held today, Monday, via video conference with the American Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen Steven Fagin.
Al-Zubaidi briefed Fagin on the achievements of the Higher Committee for Sovereign Revenues in the path of financial and administrative reforms in several revenue-generating institutions, particularly in the transport sector, telecommunications, customs and taxes.
Hel also cited the efforts made to re-operate the Aden Refineries, rehabilitate the oil sectors and support the Central Bank’s efforts in the temporary capital Aden to perform its duties with independence and efficiency, enabling it to manage monetary policy, protect the currency and enhance financial stability in the country.
The conversations touched on the positive outcomes of the efforts of the government reforms to improve the national currency exchange rate, reduce consumer prices and the tangible impact this has had on improving living conditions and easing the suffering of the fellow citizens.
The two sides also discussed the political developments in Yemen in light of the ongoing tensions in the region due to the continuous Houthi escalation in international shipping lanes, the ongoing mobilization of militias at border fronts and their desperate efforts to turn the ports under their control into outlets for smuggling weapons and chemical materials from Iran.
The security and political situations in our country were also touched upon.
The Maj. General al-Zubaidi updated the American Ambassador on the efforts made by the armed forces and security services for combating terrorism and tracking its remnants, citing the successes achieved in seizing smuggled arms shipments to the Houthi militias.
He highly praising the American active role in implementing the decision to ban arms smuggling to the militias and drying up their funding sources.
The PLC's Member underlined the importance of continued American support in security, military and intelligence aspects as well as further boost coordination to continue achieving those successes.
