ADEN - SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Major General Aidarus al-Zubaidi has praised the humanitarian interventions carried out by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the humanitarian and developmental fields in Yemen.
This came during his reception Tuesday here of the head of the ICRC mission in Yemen Mahmoud Abu Haseebah and the political advisor to the mission Baha'a al-Salami.
Al-Zubaidi was briefed on the field mission’s efforts and its humanitarian interventions to assist the community groups affected by armed conflicts in areas along the front lines, in addition to the developmental interventions implemented by the international organization in the temporary capital Aden and the liberated governorates.
Major General Al-Zubaidi listened to a brief explanation from the head of the mission about the developmental projects the organization is working on, primarily its efforts to secure international funding for the project to resolve the water crisis in the temporary capital Aden and to support the completion of the Hassan Dam project in Abyan Governorate.
The meeting also addressed the ICRC's interventions in the human rights situation in Yemen, highlighting the organization's role in providing health services to prisons, monitoring the conditions of detainees and initiating humanitarian dialogues between conflicting parties.
At the end of the meeting, the member of the Leadership Council expressed the council's readiness to overcome any difficulties that the ICRC might face in the temporary capital Aden and other liberated governorates and to provide the necessary facilitation to enable it to effectively carry out its humanitarian and developmental tasks.
