Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries Salem al-Soqotri discussed Sunday here with Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP Dr. Nadia Al-Awamleh the latest developments in the project to rehabilitate the fish port in the Towahi area of Aden Governorate.
This project is being implemented by the UNDP with funding from the German Development Bank (KfW) at a cost of $35 million.
The meeting reviewed the technical and administrative procedures related to the rehabilitation of service and investment facilities within the port, which represent promising opportunities for local and international private sector investment and partnership.
Additionally, they discussed the progress of the fisheries development project in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and Arabian Sea.
Minister al-Soqotri emphasized the ministry's plans of enhancing partnership with the private sector to operate several vital investment projects in the port, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy and the development of infrastructure in the fisheries sector.
He praised the pivotal role of the UNDP, calling for intensified efforts to ensure the project's completion according to the specified timeline.
For her part, the Deputy Representative of UNDP will continue to intensify its efforts to implement these vital projects that impact citizens' lives and enhance the ability of coastal communities to achieve sustainable development.
