ADEN - SABA
The European Union strongly condemned the latest round of arbitrary arrests carried out by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias against United Nations employees in Yemen.
The EU expressed its support in a statement issued by its mission in Yemen for calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all UN staff, non-governmental organization employees, and diplomatic missions detained by the Houthis.
The statement noted that these arrests jeopardize the provision of urgent humanitarian and developmental assistance needed by the Yemeni people.
The United Nations announced on Friday the suspension of operations and movements of all its offices and organizations working in areas controlled by the Houthi terrorist militia, following a new and ongoing kidnapping campaign that targeted several of its employees last Thursday.
