The Japanese government has announced about a new humanitarian aid package for Yemen worth roughly $6.6 million from its supplementary budget for fiscal year 2024, in response to the urgent humanitarian needs in Yemen.
The Japanese Embassy in the Republic of Yemen said in a statement today, Sunday, learned by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the aid package includes projects in the areas of health, protection of IDPs and refugees, food security, agriculture and maritime law enforcement.
The Japanese funded projects are set to be carried out by UN's agencies such as the, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNDPC and UNOD and International Planned Parenthood Federation and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The statement noted that the new assistance package aims to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
