Parliament Speaker discusses latest developments with French Ambassador
[25/10/2024 07:29]
RIYADH - SABA
Parliament Speaker Sheikh Sultan al-Barakani discussed Friday with the French Ambassador to Yemen Catherine Corm Kammoun developments in the national and regional situations.

The Two parties discussed the supportive role that the regional and international community should play in achieving peace and supporting stability in Yemen.

Both parties reviewed the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and ways to enhance and develop them, emphasizing the importance of elevating the level of bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic and developmental sectors, and building capacities in vital sectors to enable the government to improve the efficiency and performance of facilities and institutions that contribute to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people under current circumstances.

Al-Barakani also addressed the continued destructive path of the Houthi militias and their terrorist practices aimed at plunging the country into a comprehensive humanitarian crisis by targeting vital facilities, private sector activities, public freedoms, and besieging cities.
This clearly confirms their ingrained hostility towards the Yemeni people and their indifference to the scale of the disaster that causes the daily loss of many lives.

He emphasized that the state, represented by constitutional legitimacy that guarantees rights and freedoms, and the sovereignty of law enforcement based on justice and equal citizenship, is the only entity that will make Yemen more secure and stable, and present in its regional and international surroundings alongside the support of brothers and friends.

He expressed his hope for greater international economic support for the government and humanitarian response plans to achieve peace in Yemen.

For her part, the French ambassador reaffirmed her country’s continued support for the efforts of constitutional legitimacy, reiterating France's position on the security, stability, and unity of Yemen and the need to end the crisis, which is a priority at the highest levels of the French administration.

She pointed out that the recent visit of EU ambassadors to the temporary capital, Aden, and the presentation of credentials by several of them is a clear indication of the continuation of this support and mutual cooperation despite all challenges.

The French diplomat also emphasized the important role of the House of Representatives, noting that these meetings and dialogues are part of joint efforts to achieve peace and stability in Yemen.
