President al-Alimi meets with Executive Secretary of the UN-ESCWA Commission

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Monday, with the Under-Secretary-General of the UN, the Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Dr. Rola Dashti, on the sidelines of the 79th Session the UN General Assembly, whose discussions are starting work tomorrow, Tuesday.

The discussions dealt with the ESCWA's interventions in providing the Yemeni government with technical support and consultancy in the area of institutional and human capacity building, designing a national vision for the developmental recovery and strategy for social justice, empowering woman and support several sectors including the use of renewable energy and dealing with climate changes' effects.

President al-Alimi praised the significant efforts of the UN committee to offer the needed technical assistance, build capacities of the governmental institutions and help them to planning strategically.

The UN's official cited the ESCWA's programs and activities in Yemen which are carried out in cooperation with the Group of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank to build the technical capacities of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, the Central Organization for Statistics and a number of the Yemeni state's institutions, including the fields of the public finance, transport and traffic safety as well as sustainable development.

Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Yemen to the UN Marwan Noaman was in attendance.
