Yemeni-Russian talks were held here on Monday to discuss Russian projects in Yemen and their reoperation.
These projects include the al-Huswah thermoelectric power plant and the fishing port in Hodeida, in addition to various investment opportunities in the oil, energy, and fisheries sectors.
The discussions involved a Yemeni delegation led by the Chairman of the Advisory Council at the Ministry of Oil and Minerals Rashid Barabaa and membership of Deput Minister of Fishery Wealth Ministry for Production and Marketing Sector Ghazi Lahmar, the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy Abdulhakim Fadhel, the Acting Director of Aden Refinery Mohammed al-Saqaf, the Director-General of Generation at the General Electricity Corporation Mohammed al-Abyadh, and the Director-General of Electricity, Transport, and Telecommunications at the Prime Minister's Office Arfath Taher. The Russian party included Sergey Mochalnikov, the Deputy Minister of Oil, and representative from several other Russian institutions.
The Chairman of the Advisory Council at the Ministry of Oil commended the role of Russian experts in oil and mineral exploration and emphasized that Yemen possesses numerous promising opportunities and potentials.
He called on Russian institutions and companies in various fields to return to the Yemeni market. He also mentioned that the Yemeni delegation's discussions were part of the follow-up to the outcomes of the recent visit by Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awadh bin Mubarak to Moscow.
The Russian Deputy Minister of Energy emphasized the importance of commercial and economic cooperation based on the long-standing relationship between the two countries, especially with the Ministry of Oil, Electricity, Agriculture, Fisheries, and Aden Refinery. He reiterated Russia's support for peace efforts in Yemen.
The discussions were attended by Yemen's Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Dr. Ahmed al-Wahishi.
