Leadership Council chairman receives United States envoy

Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi received today the US envoy, Timothy A. Lenderking, and the US ambassador to Yemen, Steven Fagin.

The meeting touched on bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, ways to strengthen them in all fields, and the American support required to strengthen the position of the Yemeni economy, including alleviating the human suffering caused by the terrorist Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime.

The meeting also touched on regional developments, the repercussions of the Israeli war against the Palestinian people on global peace and security, and the importance of doubling efforts for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire, and resolving the Palestinian issue justly on the basis of international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council reiterated the firm and principled position of Yemen alongside the Palestinian people and their right to restore their independent, fully sovereign state.

The President affirmed the commitment of the Council and the government to a comprehensive and just peace approach in Yemen in accordance with the terms of reference agreed upon nationally, regionally and internationally, in particular Security Council Resolution 2216.

Al-Alimi also affirmed the support of the Leadership Council and the government for the efforts led by the United Nations envoy to revive the peace process in Yemen based on the results of the good efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
