The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced today the designation of 21 individuals and entities, as well as the identification of one vessel, on the sanctions list for their involvement in transporting petroleum products, purchasing weapons and equipment and providing financial services to the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

Yemen, WFP discuss 2019-2020 plans, challenges facing programs

Yemen's Ambassador to Italy Ismhan al-Toki discussed with World Food Program's (WFP) Senior Economist Aref Hussein on Wednesday a number of issues and challenges facing the program in Yemen.

In the meeting on the sidelines of her participating meetings in the WFP's Second Round of the Executive Council held in November 26-29, the two parties discussed the program's 2019-2020 plans in Yemen to be presented to the council for approving them.

Ambassador al-Toki confirmed significance of the program's activities for filling the humanitarian and development gap through creating balance between food assistances and cash assistances included in the programs future strategy.

She asked transferring part of the assistance cash through the Central Bank of Yemen for supporting government's efforts for facing economic deterioration and improving prices of local currency.

For his part, Hussein confirmed that the program will continue providing relief assistances needed for tackling humanitarian situation in Yemen.

He pointed out that the program aims in its future plans for providing food assistances to nearly 12 million people monthly.
