TOKYO-SABA

Yemen's ambassador to Tokyo Sameer Khamees met Wendsday with the Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono.

Yemeni-Japanese bilateral ties and cooperation were discussed during the meeting.

The ambassador briefed the Japanese Foreign Minister on the Humanitarian Response Plan 2018 in Yemen sponsored by the Saudi-led Coalition member states.

Khamees explained the humanitarian situations in Yemen which are badly deteriorated because of the war triggered by Iran-baked Houthi militia. He also cited the challenges facing the Yemeni government; particularly in the interim capital Aden in the wake of the coup failed attempt last month, thanks to the intervention by the Saudi-led Coalition that prevented the southerner militia from taking control over the state's institutions.

The Japanese Foreign Minister has confirmed his government's support for the Yemeni government to put an end of the coup. He also voiced concerns about the deteriorated humanitarian situation in Yemen.
