The Saudi-funded Masam project to clear Yemeni territory of landmines removed 2,037 mines and unexploded ordnance planted by the Iran-backed Houthi militia during the final week of October 2026, the project said.
The clearance included 109 anti-tank mines, 33 anti-personnel mines, 1,890 unexploded ordnance items and five explosive devices, bringing the total number of mines and explosive remnants cleared in October to 6,511.
The project said its teams had removed a total of 600,000 mines and explosive devices since its launch. The Houthi militia planted the explosives indiscriminately across several Yemeni governorates, posing a deadly threat to civilians, particularly children, women and the elderly.
Saudi Arabia continues to support mine-clearance operations in Yemen through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, aiming to protect civilians and help Yemenis live in safety.
