Yemeni Acting Ambassador to Syria Mohammed Baaker discussed today with Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab ways to enhance mutual security coordination and cooperation in areas of common interest.

The meeting addressed steps to exchange expertise, facilitate consular services, and streamline residency procedures and travel visa transactions.

Baaker briefed the Syrian minister on developments in Yemen and the threats posed by the Houthi militias to waterways and international trade, stressing the importance of restoring government control over the entire national territory and preventing Yemen from becoming a hub for threats to regional and international security in service of suspicious external agendas.

He underscored the deep-rooted historical ties between Yemen and Syria and expressed appreciation for the facilities and continued support provided by the Syrian Interior Ministry to the Yemeni diplomatic mission and Yemeni citizens residing in Syria.

For his part, Minister Khattab reaffirmed Syria’s firm support for Yemen’s security and stability, describing them as an integral part of the regional and international security system.

He also affirmed the deep fraternal relations between the two countries and peoples, expressing Syria’s full readiness to provide the necessary facilities to advance joint cooperation, facilitate procedures for members of the Yemeni community and visitors to Syria, and maintain full coordination on matters serving their shared interests.
