State Minister and Aden Governor Abdulrahman Sheikh held talks today with US Chargé d’Affaires to Yemen Neil Hop on the latest developments in Aden and the continued Houthi attacks on international maritime routes in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab and the Gulf of Aden.
The discussions focused on the security and economic consequences of the attacks, the risks they pose to international navigation and commercial traffic, and their repercussions for the region.
The two sides also reviewed efforts to strengthen security and stability in the temporary capital, Aden, along with a number of security, public service and humanitarian issues aimed at promoting stability and improving citizens’ living conditions.
Sheikh underscored the importance of continued coordination and cooperation with the international community and support for efforts to reinforce security and stability in Aden and address the challenges arising from the region’s evolving security situation.
