Yemen Condemns Colombia’s Recognition of Claimed Israeli Sovereignty Over Occupied Syrian Golan
[11/08/2026 05:28]
ADEN – SABA

The Republic of Yemen has condemned the Government of Colombia’s recognition of claimed Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan.

Yemen reaffirmed its rejection of any measures that seek to legitimize occupation or entrench the acquisition of territory by force in violation of the UN Charter and the principles of international law.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed Yemen’s full solidarity with the Syrian Arab Republic and reaffirmed its commitment to Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, as well as its right to recover the occupied Golan as an inseparable part of its territory, in accordance with relevant international legitimacy led by UN Security Council Resolution 497 (1981).

The ministry stressed that unilateral recognitions do not confer legitimacy on occupation and do not diminish the sovereign rights of states and peoples. It reiterated Yemen’s rejection of all attempts to impose permanent realities in the occupied Arab territories or alter their status by force.

Yemen also called on the Colombian government to reconsider its decision in line with its international obligations and the long-standing international position on the occupied Syrian Golan.

The ministry emphasized that respect for state sovereignty, the preservation of territorial unity and integrity, and the rejection of imposing a fait accompli by force remain fundamental pillars for safeguarding international peace and security.
