MOSCOW - SABA
The Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to the Russian Federation Dr. Ahmed al-Wahishi discussed today, Thursday, with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko Yemeni-Russian bilateral relations and the recent developments in Yemen.
The talks covered the Yemeni government's efforts aimed at fighting terrorism in cooperation with regional and international partners, including friendly Russia, the recent escalation by the Houthi terrorist militias, namely their operation of direct flights from Tehran to Sana’a without the permission of the Yemeni government.
Ambassador al-Wuhayshi made it clear that this is a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen and a clear challenge to international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
The talks also addressed the Russian side’s invitation to hold the Yemeni-Russian Joint Governmental Committee in Moscow.
The Russian Deputy Feign Minister confirmed Russia's continuous support for the UN-led efforts in Yemen to keep de-escalation as a step towards ending the war and achieving security and stability in Yemen.
