A coordination meeting was held here on Monday together a team from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and members of the team preparing the national draft strategy for the fisheries sector, to discuss procedures related to the preparation of the National Fisheries Strategy for the period 2026–2036.
The meeting, which included the Ministry’s Undersecretary Ghazi Lahmar, addressed the main aspects related to the working mechanism for preparing the national draft strategy, as well as ways to enhance coordination and cooperation with relevant authorities.
The meeting emphasized the importance of benefiting from available data and information, and preparing a draft strategy that takes into account the challenges and changes facing the fisheries sector.
It also highlighted the need to develop a comprehensive national strategy that contributes to the advancement of the fisheries sector, strengthens its role in supporting the national economy, and achieves sustainable development.
