Minister of Water and Environment Engineer Tawfiq al-Sharjabi held a meeting Wednesday via video conference with the Director of the Santiago Network Carolina Fuentes.

The two parties explored areas of joint cooperation in supporting Yemen’s efforts to confront the growing challenges resulting from climate change.

The meeting, which included the network’s Senior Program Manager Dr. Elizabeth Carabine, also addressed the progress of selecting implementing entities for the project aimed at supporting the management of loss and damage in Yemen.

al-Sharjabi reviewed the increasing challenges facing Yemen due to climate change, including floods and droughts and the resulting human and economic losses.

He emphasized that this requires the development of a comprehensive national system for documenting and analyzing loss and damage, considering it a top priority.
