Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qasem Buhaybeh, met with UNICEF Yemen Representative, Peter Hawkins, to discuss preparations for the upcoming Donor Summit in Aden and the country's current nutrition situation.
The meeting reviewed efforts by partners to support nutrition and public health programs, challenges posed by reduced funding for vital health initiatives, and strategies to ensure their continuity despite limited resources.
Dr. Buhaybeh emphasized the importance of continued coordination between the ministry and UNICEF in areas like primary healthcare, vaccinations, maternal and child health, and nutrition.
He praised UNICEF's crucial role in supporting field health activities and implementing humanitarian response programs across governorates.
The minister stressed enhancing joint work within the national health planning framework to direct resources towards priority programs like nutrition, immunization, reproductive health, and epidemic control.
