[21/01/2025 05:12]

AMMAN - SABA
A government-European meeting was held Tuesday here attended by Deputy Minister of Finance Hani Wahab and the European Union Ambassador to Yemen Gabriel Vinals.

The meeting emphasized the significance of the Yemeni government's plan and vision for achieving reform, economic recovery, and comprehensive development.

Both the government and European representatives noted the announcement of the international ministerial meeting to rally support for the government in New York yesterday, which expressed full backing for the government's plan and vision, aiming to turn them into a tangible reality for the Yemeni people to alleviate their suffering that has escalated over nearly ten years due to the Iranian-backed Houthi militia's coup.

Deputy Minister Wahab also discussed with Ambassador Vinals the latest developments in Yemen, particularly in the economic and financial sectors, and the government's efforts to tackle significant challenges in these essential areas and implement comprehensive reforms.

Wahab highlighted Yemen's need for continued support from government partners among friendly and brotherly countries, including technical and material assistance to bolster government efforts and enhance state institutions' capabilities.

This support is crucial for developing financial resources, especially non-oil revenues, combating corruption, providing essential services to citizens and mitigating the worsening humanitarian crisis and food insecurity.

He praised the European positions supporting Yemen and the Yemeni people and their assistance to the government in fulfilling its obligations and contributing to achieving economic stability.
