Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Nizar Basuhyb met on Tuesday with the Humanitarian Affairs Advisor for international organizations operating in Yemen Catherine Fisquino to discuss ways to enhance partnership in humanitarian work.
The meeting, attended by the Undersecretaries of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation for the Engineering Projects Sector Wazira al-Shurmani and the International Cooperation Sector Omar Abdulaziz, along with several officials from the ministry and representatives of international organizations, focused on the mechanisms for coordination and monitoring of projects implemented by organizations based on priorities and essential needs raised by government sectors, as well as the necessary procedures for the tasks and responsibilities of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.
Basuhyb emphasized the ministry’s commitment to facilitating humanitarian work for all international organizations and ensuring alignment with the actual priorities reported by relevant bodies while meeting the required standards to ensure the desired results from those projects for the targeted areas and beneficiaries.
For her part, the Humanitarian Affairs Advisor for international organizations highlighted the commitment of all international organizations to coordinate with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and work according to the agreed-upon priorities to support humanitarian efforts in Yemen.
In a separate meeting, the Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation discussed with the Country Coordinator for the People in Need Organization, Maher Merit, the organization's intervention plan for the current year and its strategy for localizing humanitarian work for upcoming projects.
