Al-Eryani discusses with US ambassador situations in Aden

Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Muamar al-Eryani discussed Tuesday with US Ambassador to Yemen Stefen Fagen latest developments in Aden and liberated areas.

Al-Eryani confirmed importance of regaining the humanitarian truce and the government's firm position for reaching permanent, inclusive and just peace on the bases of the three agreed upon references: the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and Security Council's Resolution 2216.

He pointed out to Houthi terrorist militia's unseriousness in dealing with efforts of appeasement and realizing peace, pointing out to Yemeni people's expertise with the militia since its establishment and its breaches to all signed agreements and accords.

He warned of Houthi militia's tricks of splitting the tracks of peaceful solution in Yemen into what is called humanitarian file and then discussing the political one, aiming at opening the door to the militia for weapon smuggling and facilitating entrance of oil smuggled from Iran.
He thanked US authorities of seizing 57 Yemeni smuggled antiquities and a number of old manuscripts as this reflects signed agreements between the two countries, hoping for more cooperation and partnership to limit smuggling of cultural heritage of Yemen.

He pointed out that a memo of understanding between Yemen and Washington to impose restrictions on importing antique materials from Yemen in accordance with UNESCO Agreement in 1970 for banning import and export cultural assets.

For his part, the US diplomat confirmed his country's support to the government of Yemen and its efforts to activate state institutions and realizing security and stability in Yemen.

He pointed out to US support to Yemen in different domains, especially to initiatives associated with humanitarian and cultural heritage and regaining the looted antiquities found in the United States.

He confirmed readiness of qualifying Yemeni cadre working in antique field on protecting antiquities and training workers in tourist field.

The US diplomat praised success of the First Aden Festival, which was organized by the Ministry of Information, Cultural and Tourism in coordination with Aden's Local Authority.
